Loving St. Helena - Meet the Holtermann's

We're off and running now in Napa Valley and this time of year the surroundings here couldn't be more amazing. I'm getting the opportunity to capture families at the locations I've been eying for weeks! Ok so we finally have some new dates for our upcoming seminar in Las Vegas Nevada. We are going to be doing some sweet desert shoots, bridal fashion and pushing the edge on how to shoot engagement sessions that are simple, diverse and progressive. For photographer who are looking to build their portfolio and learn how to create a better and more fun experience for their couples, this will teach you how we build up, edify, and serve our couples. "Its all about your character while you shoot". Brittany and I am passionate about being able to provide this workshops so that you can learn the essentials about how to run your business better, shoot right the 1st time, and to run your business so you don't get burned out, but have time to serve your clients in the best way possible and have fun while doing it. I was able to be a part of a great book (which you can read more about on a previous blog entry) that is now in stores "The Greatest Love" by Loren Slocum. Vegas Nights!!!

Congrats to Megan and Boyd who were married last night at The Four Seasons of Las Vegas. Their entire wedding took place out by the pool with amazing decor by Destinations By Design. Truly an awesome couple with a great family to boot. Poolside weddings definitely have a great Vegas vibe. Here are some shots!

BLR Urban Sessions

I had so much fun Today! Lately I have really wanted to play and create some totally different images for my families. This morning I got to photograph Gabriella and Isabella downtown, and let me tell you THEY ROCK!!! Check out these cuties.
Thanks to their mom Heidi for the wardrobe. She did say this is what they love to wear and she is so excited to have portraits of them that truly reflect who they are. They love to dress up and play, of course they are girls!

Kai has Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of Autism.

With 1 in 150 children now considered having some form of autism, chances are that you know a family similarly effected. Please pass our offer to them.

The Best Of Event at Four Seasons

Myself and some of Vegas' best wedding professionals have come together to create a totally different wedding planning event.
We have put together an event for consulting and of course fashion. We and by we I mean (Couture Bride, DBD, Tory L. Cooper,
Annabelle's All Occasion and Dennis Silknetter from Four Seasons) felt this town needs something dfferent from the dreaded Bridal Shows. So we created what we feel is a much more appealing and fun event. We will have drinks, lunch and a rockin' fashion show featuring Vera Wang, Monique lhuillier, Carolina Herrera Oscar De La Renta. We will be consulting on what is hot and what's not. We are not competing with other vendors at this event so we can focus on sharing our expertise with the brides that attend without selling. Coolest of all we are giving away $25,000 in wedding services and all proceeds will go to FEAT (Families Effectively Treating Autism in Southern Nevada).All brides are invited to join us with their friends, moms and of course husband to be. The Greatest Love is in Target!!!

I am so excited to announce that a very special book that I got to be a part of creating is in Target Stores as of yesterday.
The book is titled "The Greatest Love, being an extraordinary mom" and was written by mother and author Loren Slocum.
She came to me last year and wanted to use some of my photography for the book. As it turns out all the images were created by BLR and I designed the book. This book is fun and loving and has AWESOME PICTURES:)! So this is a great Mother's Day gift.

This moved me!

I have not yet decided who to vote for in the upcoming election, but this has moved me. For the first time in my life I am paying attention and I believe this election will a have a huge affect on my life and my children's life. I am still researching this issues and trying not to be skewed by the media, but I can't help sharing this. This video shows me a little of what this country needs some passion and hope beyond opstacles. I hope you enjoy and I hope you get involved and vote. Yes I am voting for a democrat.

The Hanson's Photo Shoot by Jerry Metellus

Today was an extremely long day, I shot two weddings this weekend and decided to do a family photo shoot to top it off. Jerry Metellus is an amazing photographer here in Vegas and he had asked me to photograph his family for their holiday card and of course my response was "only if you shoot my fam". Well I definitely got a taste of what my clients go through in preparing for a FAMILY photo shoot. My husband I rushed around all morning trying to find the right outfits for the shoot. I actually left him and went to shoot Jerry's family first and he contiuned to go to every children's boutique clothing store he could think of (knowing how important this shoot was to me). Well between Jerry's family and ours along with makeup and scene changes we finished up just as the sun was setting. Jerry was great with my kids and I could not be more excited to have these images, so enough babbling here are some of my favorites from the shoot. I'm warning ya my kids are pretty cute. I am so grateful. THANK YOU SO MUCH JERRY!

My name is Ary Dalton I run the video department for BLR. This is a little something I put together of my two kids who make me laugh out loud at least once a day. I am so blessed.
If you have kids video tape them all the time! These moments are absolutely priceless. Pictures are just as important, But watching them walk around and hearing their voice from a year ago, two years ago etc... is something you will treasure for the rest of your life.

So where have I been?

Well I haven't posted anything since July, but I thought I would let everybody know what we have been up to for the last couple of months. We have shot over 15 weddings since August and loving it. We were in Vail, LA and best of all lake Como, Italy! We have been published in five magazines including Professional Photographers of America and Las Vegas Bride. Most exciting of all we moved into a new studio just a few doors down from our last place. We are having a party November 6th to celebrate (everybody welcome). Our son Kai started kindergarten and absolutely loves riding the bus. Eric and I also just celebrated our 5th anniversary, can't believe how time flies. Well we are now in the mitts of Holiday portraits and having blast. This is my favorite time of the year and I love seeing all my families that have been coming to BLR since the beginning when our studio was in a one-car garage. Anyway there is the skinny. I will be posting more shots from the last few months but here is a sample.

SUMMER LOVE

She has stolen my heart, this is my daughter Dylan. She is a goofball and a half. These moments make everything all worth while. She creates so much joy and silliness, I can't imagine life before her. I wanted to share these and remind all you parents out there life is short and enjoy your kids.

Flower Girls and Ring Bearers

One favorite parts about photographing weddings are flower girls and ring bearers. Kids are so real and bring a whole different element to the day. Last weekend we photographed Chris and Gabrielle's Wedding at the Ritz Carlton. Their bridal party had a lot of family involved. Gabrielle's nephew was pulled in a wagon with Chris nephew both babies. Chris' niece Mia was the flower girl. This little girl not only had personality but a style all her own. Check it out. I will post some shots of the couple in a few days.

Family Photo Shoot!

Ok so everybody thinks because I'm a photographer I have all these great shots of my kids. Let the truth be told..... my kids run from the camera. So it isn't always easy when it comes to our own family shoots. Our niece is about 5 months old and they were in for new shots of Kailah (that's our niece). So somehow it turned into my kids in the shoot and then us as well. Ya my kids wanted no part of it and then then baby was getting fussy, by the end we were all a wreck. Hands down my own family are the hardest photo shoots ever. It was two hours of pure chaos. My dad even popped in to say Hello so we threw him in a couple.

I LOVE NEW LENSES

I just got a new 50mm 1.2 lens and what better way to test than on my sweet kids. I'm spending my Friday at home being mommy. I'm definitely a consumer new stuff always inspires me. I get to shoot a wedding tomorrow and can't wait to do something different with my new toy. Check out my girl Melissa's Blog she discoverd she is in The Knot. Collages.net used some of the images I shot at her wedding for a national ad. Here is some shots of the kids (all three of them) with my new lens.

This is our third child, his name is Blue. He likes digging enormous holes and eating anything left out. Ain't he cute.

TC and Taryn Finally

Ok so these are great friends of ours who will be getting married in October. They have been together as long as Eric and I have been together (over six years). Anyway I'm so happy for them, they are a great couple. And Yaaaah! Eric and I are shooting their wedding. So here some shots of them that I took at The San Genarro Feast. Congrats to TC and Taryn and we are excited for the big day.

Photography Workshop

Mike Larson and myself are proud to launch our new site Step It Up Seminar destination seminar series. Thanks to encouragement of many friends and other photographers asking us if we could put together a workshop, we are really excited about this development.

The main goals of our workshop are:

- Be able to help other photographers develop a better relationship with their clients,
- while at the same time having a business and a personal lifestyle that enables them not to get burned out.
- Long term business strategies
- Learn how to create amazing images for your portfolio in exotic locations around the world
- Streamline, systemize and perfect your workflow so you develop relationships with your clients, rather than developing 4x6's in photoshop
- To Step up every aspect of thier business and take it to another level

There is more that we cover, especially since we try and focus a lot of time on the "one on one" mentor sessions so the education is personalized and not just directed towards a group during the destination seminars.

Love is in the Air (Jordan's that is)

Jen and Zoran tied the knot on Saturday in Summerlin, NV. They are such a fun couple. I've been so excited to photograph their big day ever since their Engagement Session about 7 months ago. I photographed them in Venice Beach, CA you may recognize the from my homepage. They are so real and fun and so genuine to eachother I knew their wedding would rock and it did. They both were sportin' Air Jordan's, bubble guns, and awesome personalities. Check it out.

Give Thanks

Happy Easter!!! Holidays are for family and Today I would like to give thanks to my wonderful grandparents (Cal and Alice Kremkau) who have been married for almost 60 years. They have given me so much love and support and I feel so blessed to have them in my life. I did this photo shoot of them for us to have something to remeber them and who they were together. While we were shooting they acted like teenagers it was great. I realized how true love can last a lifetime. I find it amazing how much we document the youth of the world but seem to forget to capture the elderly. I wanted to remind anyone who reads this give thanks to your family and take pictures to show future generations the amazing people in their history. Nan and Papa We love lots.

Most people assume that I have millions a great images of my own family, but the truth is not really. It's the biggest challange to capture images of my children. They know what I do for a living and are not always thrilled with me photographing them. Mike Larson and his awesome wife stayed with us for a few days last week and were brave enough to photograph us. I am so grateful, he captured some of the best images of our family ever. Here is just a few. Having these images of our kids and us mean so much to me and reminds why I do what I do. Thanks Mike we will treasure these images forever.

Fashion at Four Seasons

Recently Jen and I (Britt) got to shoot just for fun. We were doing some setup shots of ballrooms and decor for The Four Seasons Hotel and decided to bring some girls and play around inbetween setups. Couture Bride was kind enough to loan us some amazing gowns. I'll admit it is a little nerve racking photographing a $17,000 gown that is on loan. Makeup was done by Veronica with Makeup to Remember. Sweet Monday Wedding

We had the privelege of photographing Jocelyn and Peter say I do. It was a on Monday at Lake Las Vegas. The weather was incredible. Peter is Italian and had 15 groomsmen and all his family from Italy. This made for a fun party. Jocelyn was escorted by her father down the aisle after a short cruise on a gondola around the lake. Jocelyn and Peter are so in love. Not only did they commit the rest of their lives to each other, Jocelyn's son Jordan was a big part of the celebration. The are one family now and Jordan adores Peter. I feel blessed and honored to be able to capture their big day.

Platinum Rocks

So the demo on the Rooftop of the Platinum Hotel was sooo much fun. We had about hundred photographers sharing tips and making friends. We were demostrating how to use California Sunbounce reflectors and then played a slideshow with the images we had just taken. The whole shoot was focused on using natural light. NO FLASHES NEEDED. Our models were amazing. Thanks guys. Here some shots.

A new post REALLY.

So my new (of many) commitments in life is to be a blogger. Good times and good friends. This week is a pretty big week in Vegas for professional photographers. WPPI (tradeshow for photographers) is in town which means I get to hang out with a whole lot of people that inspire me. I'm reallly excited to be shooting with a new found friend Mike Larson. We are shootiing a lighting demo for California Sunbounce on the rooftop at the Platinum Hotel. Invites will be available at the the California Sunbounce booth. My husband, Eric and I will also be speaking at the Collages.net booth. It's going to be a crazy week.
